Lately...

Well, lets see. Pre-school started. The weather cooled down and we made it to Huff-n-Puff 2008. The kids are doing fabulous at"school" but Audrey cries when we drop them off. Sad but cute! The first day we came home and she walked around asking, "Where's Sadie at"? She also has this new thing with dragging the pillows from the guest bed around the house and falling asleep on them. Sadie's newest thing is really wanted a pet. I'm not anti-pet, but I have enough on my plate as it is. I am thinking something very low maintenence. A turtle maybe. I'll take suggestions on this one. And Wyatt. He is still a Daddy's boy. He went out to scout hunting land with Matt the other day. He took his camo rain coat and frog rain boots. Wish I could have seen that!

♥BEAUTIFUL DAY ♥

It was the most beautiful day. Low 80's, perfectly blue sky...just a glorious day really. I took the kids out to Shawnee Lake with a picnic lunch. We sat under a pavillion and had our sandwiches. We walked part of the shoreline throwing in rocks, played on the playground and then sat on a blanket under a canopy of old trees in the shade. We played ring around the rosy and hide and go seek.

Whirlwind Trip

This past weekend I made a mad dash to Oklahoma to meet up with my two best friends from high school. I don't think we've all been in the same room since I got married. Anyhow, I had to see my parents while I was there but they had plans to go to their lakehouse 100 miles away, so I went there as well. In three days the kids and myself, alone, covered 820 miles! Audrey cried for about half of them. Seriously. But we saw a lot of old friends and my kids met a lot of new people. Wyatt helped Pawpaw with a fence. He followed him like a shadow, it was cute. Sadie was the center of attention as usual. And Audrey, well, I held her for 3 days. She is such a momma's girl! I would post pictures but I left my CF card here so I have no documentation of this trip. Darn. The hummer performed better than I thought, I'd say it got about 16-18 mpg, but it sure is a nice ride. I realize that after I rent cars for work and then drive my car. It rides smooth and is the perfect size for traveling with the kids. I have enough cargo room, I can reach all three of them if need be and I have the nifty upolstery treatment to prevent any stains! Despite all the driving the kids had fun swimming, fishing, staying up WAAAAYYYY too late and playing. It is nice to be home though in my own bed without any little feet poking me in the back or feet wrapped around my neck at 4 am. Oh, I have new sheets because of an incident with Wyatt and nail polish. So it is nice to be home. Yes, I think of Topeka, KS as home now!

Summer

This has been a good summer so far. We've been to the pool a few times and had a good fourth of July. I am so glad we stayed home. We grilled out and the kids did some snakes, sparklers and poppers. What we didn't plan on which was great, was our neighborhood going CRAZY with the fireworks. In Matt's words, it was like being in a war zone. Literally EVERY house was shooting up the big works and it was great. It was loud and showy and fun. We live on the edge of town so we could look back at the horizon and see the tons of fireworks going off in town. It was pretty cool. The kids were up late but it was fun. We could feel the strapnel even.

While not terrribly active, we have had a lot of social commitments this summer. I have been busy with work and I had to go to Chicago for a week in June. It was so weird being without my little ones. I am not looking forward to doing that again but I do consider that a break from home even if I was working. I am so glad to have my flexible job so that I can spend most of the day with my kids. As Audrey grows I am reminded of Sadie and Wyatt at her age. It seems like just yesterday and now they are so big. I think this picture showcases their personalities perfectly.

The Best Whining Ever!

Matt told me this after I returned home from Target one evening. I had left Sadie and Wyatt at home and taken Audrey with me. Apparently, Wyatt was not pleased so he continued to cry and whine after I left. Matt asked him what was wrong. Wyatt, through his whining, replied, "Mommy's too pretty". Is that not the best?

Back to Pre-Baby...

weight that is! I've done it. Finally. I've been pregnant OR nursing concurrently since March of 2003 just up until October of 2007 and I haven't even been given a chance to shed my last few pounds of baby weight. And let me assure you, there will be no more babies. Matt has that taken care of. So unless hell freezes over, I am done. I loved every minute of it, except when Sadie constricted my kidney and it was the size of a grapefruit and when I had mastitis 3 times and my 3 hernias and...well except all that. I do look at pregnant women and get a tinge of jealously. I was a good incubator. The babies were all perfect and still are. However the body they left is not so perfect. I will NEVER get back my pre-baby body totally but I have half the battle won with my last few pounds gone. Yes, I am proud...and happy to be back to me somewhat.
